Mainland Universities Face Tough Times

Mainland universities will face financial pressures in the next decade and some could even struggle to survive as student numbers continue to fall. The main cause is the country’s declining birthrate since the 1990s. Downward trend in enrolments might last until the end of the decade, reducing revenues for many tertiary education providers heavily reliant on tuition fees.
