Renewable Energy Still Too Expensive

If the world were to freeze nuclear energy use at current levels, output of renewable energy would have to double by 2035 to meet demand; if nuclear energy were to be abandoned completely, then renewables would have to increase by 3 times.

One good reason why renewable energy sources are not already taking over is their cost. Onshore wind energy is cheaper than ost other renewable sources, but costs US$83 per kilowatt hour, compared with US$70 for coal and US $60 for natural gase. Solar energy costs US$224 per kilowatt hour.
